Every Day is an Environment Day in the Northeast

In the lush green landscapes of Northeast India, especially in the tea garden areas of Assam, every day is lived as an environment day—not just celebrated once a year. This philosophy is reflected in the daily activities of Vivekananda Kendra’s Aanandalaya, where children are nurtured with values of sustainability, simplicity, and reverence for nature.

Aanandalaya goes beyond textbooks. Here, children grow up amidst tea gardens and forests, learning to see nature not as a resource but as a living presence—like a mother. With simple yet meaningful actions like planting saplings, keeping their surroundings clean, and learning stories that honor nature, they develop an inner respect for the environment.

Inspired by Bharatiya culture and Swami Vivekananda’s teachings, Aanandalaya builds the understanding that environmental care is not a campaign, but a way of life. In this way, children in these small centers become silent ambassadors of ecological balance—living proof that real education means living in harmony with the world around us.
